awkward moment of the day
so I’m on my way to class this morning, I was running late and I’m taking my usual route
I get to the elevator I press the up button and I wait, now it takes a minute cause one the school is old as dirt and second someone above me hit the button before I did
anyways as I’m waiting some white girl comes up and says “I think it’s broke cause the button isn’t lit up”
well I’ve been going to this school for 3 years now and have taken this route over a hundred times…it’s and old ass school not everything lights up anymore
I don’t say anything because it clearly is working because I can hear the belts of the elevator rotating and I didn’t want to say that and make her feel stupid because I know it would have came out my mouth in a condescending way
so I stand there quietly…the elevator door opens she states “oh well I guess not” and we walk in
we have an awkward elevator ride…I can feel her looking at me I think she wanted me to say something or have a conversation about the elevator, but I just stand there I’m not one for conversation, especially in the morning and when I’m running late
the doors open we walk out she leaves out first slows down to walk next to me and says “well excuse me for my idiocrasy” as if she was offended and stormed off
first of all I chuckled to relieve tension, but I was laughing at her choice of vocabulary because idiocrasy means a weird habit and I think she meant to say stupidity or idiot
But I was mostly chuckling because that shit was so awkward like come on I don’t understand why she was offended because I didn’t stand there and make pointless conversation. I tried not to say anything so I wouldn’t make her feel more stupid
cause I mean come on girl you could hear the elevator this school is old and the belts are loud as fuck I mean it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to put two and two together
needless to say that shit was awkward and I ended up being the bad guy cause I didn’t comment knowing damn well if I did say anything I probably would have made her cry
damned if you do damned if you don’t
